NTU-Harvard SusNano Workshop 2018

The Initiative’s second annual workshop was hosted with great success at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston from November 12-16, 2018. Collaborators from the NTU faculty as well as their researchers and students travelled to the workshop to present findings with Harvard faculty, researchers and students. The workshop provided a technical overview of the research activities within the Initiative, which focused on cutting edge applications and EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) implications of nanomaterials. The presentations included updates on projects including understanding the health implications of exposure to printer-emitted nanoparticles and the development of food-based nano-carriers and nano-modulators for efficient delivery of nutraceuticals and/or selective clearance of unwanted substances in the gastrointestinal tract.

The workshop was led by the Initiative’s co-directors, Associate Professor Philip Demokritou (HSPH) and Associate Professor Kee Woei Ng (NTU) with the Initiative’s internal steering committee and external advisory committee members attending as well. Plenary speakers included Associate Professor Shirley Ho of NTU and Professor David Julian McClements of University of Massachusetts Amherst in the USA.
